Basket base (beginners)


Terminology:


- Magic ring.

- Chain – ch.

- Double crochet – dc.

- Double crochet increase – inc.

Pattern



NOTE: the video demonstrate how to make a small basket base. For more sizes look on the next section.



Make a magic ring and secure it with a slip stitch them Chain 3 (counted as 1 dc).

Round One: 14dc inside the magic ring and pull the ring’s long tail to close it. Join the round with a slip stitch in the third chain.

Round Two: Chain 3 (counted as 1dc) then work another double crochet in the same stitch to make the first increase. Keep making 1inc in each stitch around and join by making a slip stitch in the third chain of the starting chains.

- FASTEN OFF HERE IF YOU WANT A MINI BASKET -

Round Three: Chain 3 (counted as 1 dc) then work an increase in the next stitch. Keep repeating *1dc, inc* all the way around. Join with a slip stitch in the third chain of the starting chains.

- FASTEN OFF HERE IF YOU WANT A SMALL BASKET -

Round Four: Chain 3 (counted as 1 dc), 1dc in the next stitch and increase in the next stitch. Keep repeating *2dc, inc* all the way around. Join with a slip stitch in the third chain of the starting chains.

- FASTEN OFF HERE IF YOU WANT A MEDIUM BASKET -

Round Five: Chain 3 (counted as 1 dc), 2dc in the next two stitch and increase in the next stitch. Keep repeating *3dc, inc* all the way around. Join with a slip stitch in the third chain of the starting chains.

- FASTEN OFF HERE IF YOU WANT A LARGE BASKET -
